Coloma Public Library
Turning the Page on Our Future
Hotspot Program
The Coloma Public Library provides hotspot devices to make the Internet more accessible in keeping with our mission “to provide access to informational, educational, cultural and recreational library materials and Free services in a variety of formats and technologies; to be responsive to the public library needs of the community; and to uphold the public’s freedom of access to information.”
Hotspots are portable, pocket-sized routers that provide wireless Internet connections for up to 10 devices at a time. Each Hotspot offers unlimited data, and can provide Internet access in any location covered by T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network.
Borrow a Hotspot
To Borrow a Hotspot, visit the front desk of the Library and fill out our Borrower Agreement. If all hotspots are checked out, we will gladly place a hold request for you.
Guidelines for Borrowing and Use
- Borrowers must be at least 18 years old.
- Hotspots may be checked out to adult cards that are accepted by Coloma Public Library and are in good standing.
- Only one hotspot may be checked out per home address.
- Patrons must present a current id at the time of checkout (name on ID and library account must match. If not, other means of verifying residence may be required).
- At the time of checkout, a staff member will verify that the hotspot is functioning properly. We can also show you how to use it.
- Hotspots may be borrowed for 2 weeks.
- Overdue fines are 10 cents per day up to a maximum of $3.00.
- Renewals are allowed when there are no pending hold requests.
- Holds can be placed in several ways including directly through our catalog, by calling, emailing, or visiting the front desk.
- Hotspots must be returned inside the Library rather than the book drop. Staff will verify that the hotspot is functioning properly before checking it in from the patron’s account.
Liability Waivers
- Hotspot devices do not guarantee successful Internet access, as access is dependent on a number of variables, including limited to cell tower signal strength, distance from the tower, etc.
- The Library is not responsible for information accessed while using the hotspot; for personal information shared over the Internet; or for computer viruses that may be transferred to user storage devices.
- The Library is not responsible for damage to personal property due to the use of the hotspot.
- Internet content filtering is not provided through the Mobile Beacon hotspot. Parents and guardians are responsible for Internet access performed by minors.
Safety Precautions
Hotspots are sensitive electronic devices. Please take the following precautions:
- Please do not expose to liquids, heat, and cold.
- Please do not leave a charging hotspot unattended.
- Please don’t disassemble the hotspot. If it stops working, bring the device back to the Library.
